Consistently generating millions of dollars in sales annually, real estate broker Christopher Scanlan achieved early success; in 1996, his first year as a part-time real estate agent, he closed more than $7 million in sales. For that achievement, Century 21 named him Rookie of the Year for the entire state of Illinois. Today, as the Managing Broker for The LIHTC Group, Inc., located in Chicago, he specializes in sale of apartment buildings.

One of the specific areas in which Christopher Scanlan focuses is Section 42, a special class of affordable housing that provides significant tax credits to investors. He works both with large clients and with smaller companies and partnerships in the purchase and sale of various properties, most commonly multifamily residential complexes. As a Housing Credit Certified Professional (HCCP), he is adept at structuring transactions in this highly complex area so as to generate the most favorable tax treatment for his clients.

Scanlan has mentored and taught countless other real estate professionals, both as the owner of his own brokerage for 11 years and as the creator of a course in buying properties in the pre-foreclosure stage. Among the factors that have contributed to his success is his personal involvement in the real estate industry: since 1991 (before he was ever licensed), he was actively invested in and managed properties, giving him a level of understanding that enhances his relationships with clients, especially when they are considering whether to buy, sell, or hold property.

Outside the office, Scanlan is a valued member of his church and volunteers for many of its activities. A family man, he supports a number of charitable endeavors, including Homes for Heroes.
